Paper first.
Phone second.
The v1 design pairs a pen and compatible patterned notebook with a phone app. Hardware and app behavior still need prototype validation.
- 1
Write on Penn paper
Compatible patterned notebooks provide the reference points for optical handwriting capture.
- 2
The pen sends strokes
The design uses Bluetooth to transfer handwriting to the companion app. Performance and storage capacity will be established through testing.
- 3
Your phone thinks
The app is intended to turn handwriting into text and offer an AI-assisted question or follow-up.
- 4
The ring lets you know
The design includes a green light and haptic signal. You choose when to open the app.
Familiar form.
Considered details.
The hardware strategy is to license an existing smart-pen platform and develop the silver body, light ring, and haptic signal. Partner selection and engineering validation remain ahead.
- 1Dot-pattern camera
- Planned optical capture reads compatible patterned paper. Accuracy and sampling rate depend on the selected platform and testing.
- 2Pressure sensing
- Tip sensing is planned to detect contact with the page. Pressure detail and wake behavior depend on the final platform.
- 3Light ring
- A slim green ring is planned to signal a ready insight and show charging status, without adding a screen.
- 4Haptic tap
- A gentle tactile signal is planned to complement the ring. Strength and feel will be evaluated in prototypes.
- 5Rechargeable battery
- A full workday of writing is the battery target, not a tested result. Battery life and offline capacity will be confirmed after prototyping.
- 6Standard refill, USB-C
- The design targets standard D1 ballpoint refills and USB-C charging under the cap, subject to platform compatibility.
One clear focus.
Our first focus is handwriting capture on compatible patterned paper, with AI assistance in the companion app. Voice capture and other extensions remain research ideas, not features included with this reservation.

Good to know.
Does it work on any paper?
The proposed optical system needs compatible microdot-patterned paper; ordinary paper would not support digital capture. Notebook pricing and any print-at-home option depend on the licensing partner and have not been confirmed.
Does the pen record audio?
No microphone or audio recording is included in the current v1 plan.
Where does my handwriting go?
The proposed architecture stores notes in the phone app and uses a cloud service for AI assistance. Privacy controls, retention policies, and processing providers are not yet finalized. The demo on this page does not collect or process your notes.
How long does the battery last?
A full workday of writing is the design target. Active use, standby time, and charging speed have not been verified and will require hardware testing.
Does the pen project holograms?
No. The v1 design uses your phone as its display.
Can I reserve Penn One today?
Yes, with a one-time $9.99 deposit through Stripe, fully refundable before launch and credited toward your purchase. At the $149 target price, the estimated remaining balance is $139.01 before tax and shipping, paid separately at launch with no automatic charge. Penn One is in development: supplier selection, prototype validation, final pricing, and a shipping date remain unconfirmed. To request a refund, contact Jananthony@omnos.ai.
